I have throwaway pooches. One will catch (and usually devour) most
anything, including grasshoppers. The collie derivative is more selective.
Bugs have no interest for her. Birds are my friends here. It is gratifying
to watch them collecting their breakfast as the sun is rising. The sheer
numbers of grasshoppers in even a normal year is what makes control so
daunting.
