Hi Vicki,
Those look like the gnaw marks that the grasshoppers
have been inflicting on seed pods here lately. They've
also been eating big chunks out of the edges of the
leaves. It's been really dry here for a while (now
we're finally getting rain) and the grasshoppers have
been pretty bad. Luckily, most of the time, they seem
to have stopped munching before they get very far into
the seeds.
