Janet, I remembered hearing that Bill Ackerman was quite involved with camellias. I discovered that he named some of the camellias that he originated starting with Ashton, his place of residence; as he did some of his JI introductions. I looked up on the internet and discovered he had written a book titled "Growing Camellias in Cold Climates". I looked it up on Amazon.com. On their website it states about the author:
"William L. Ackerman earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in horticulture from Rutgers University and Ph.D. in botany from the University of Maryland. Now retired, he served as a research horticulturist at the U.S. National Arboretum in Washington, DC."
These facts were on website: www.amazon.com/Growing-Camellias-Climates-William-Ackerman/dp/1561677167
I believe amazon.com to be truthful in their advertising or they could potentially be sued. Riley -----Original Message----- |
