This photo taken in June, 2006.
I had a nice stalk of this for our iris show, but
the day before the show, it just FELL OVER! I had a lot of that last
year. I called it "stalk rot." Anyone else have that
problemo?
I assumed the excess of weeds caused the rot to
take a number on the stalk, with a lack of sunlight and air circulation to keep
things healthy down there.
It was recommended to
me that I use it further in breeding, so I did! I put
the stalk in a vase here in my house, and after every flower opened, I grabbed
the pollen and went daubing. I have seeds from 'Fancy Woman',
'Balderdash'
Anyway, here's the parentage. I really like
this iris. Just wish it would grow a little more vigorous for
me.
