Emma Cook pattern

Fred is a iris neighbor (drive less than 1 hour to his garden). One day a few years ago I got a lengthy private tour of his iris garden and seedlings. Unfortunately I did not know enough at the time to understand all that I was told. Fred calls the banded falls the "Emma Cook" pattern. It has been one of his major hybridizing lines.

Chuck, thank you.  I did think dominant amoena-plus was what I was seeing in the photo.

Shoop-by-Keppel's 'Last Laugh' is very similar in pattern.  Neither it nor 'Seakist' have the extreme _expression_ shown in Fred Kerr's banded-fall irises, but are on the same track from their appearance, just not as far down it, so to speak.
