Hi Cathleen,
The iris sure look like they like your
new place in Stockton, CA.
I'd just let the flowers bloom then cut off stalk
when finished. That rhizome is spent or finished
anyway, the most an old rhizome will do is let the new increase
feed off it for awhile.
