Around here the conventional wisdom is that they grow well with TB
cultivation practices, with two caveats: 1) You can not let the roots
dry out until the plant is established or it will die. 2) They are more
sensitive to constancy of summer moisture--they can be happy going
dormant without water, and they can be happy with regular watering. But
if they go dormant and then get significant water problems arise. I
assume because the molds are active when the plant isn't, so there's no
defense.

Go ahead and get some. You will be glad you did.
