Re: Peacock's eye


Always interesting to see where what we wind up learning here -
apparently, there is a pretty spectacular butterfly called the Peacock
Butterfly, or Peacock's Eye (Inachis io).

So while the German name (which I mis-spelled!) may translate to
Peacock's Eye, it may actually be the name of a butterfly.

Colors somewhat variable - let's hope that's not true of the iris bloom
as well!

The photo on this USGS site isn't as pretty as some of the others I
found, but the site loads fast without a bunch of cookies.
