Anna  --  In my experience, this tends to happen to irises near the end of a clump's bloom.  Only guessing, but would think it might be owing to too much competition for nutrients.  --  Griff

This is on my Celebrity Song this year...now I am curious, as I have seen a number of blooms like this  recently, on all different kinds of bearded Iris...what causes this? My neighbour has over 500 named varieties, and I saw a lot on hers a couple weeks ago, from all different Iris......
