Aha... it probably IS Mendelian but how just many loci are involved in the degree of _expression_. If there weren't at least a few modifiers involved, why would there be such a range in _expression_ of PBF (from faint trace all the way to bold) even among diploids? Dosage at a lone locus would only explain 3 categories - dark(or high up), medium and none - right?
