Re: Five Star Admiral photo is Superstition!!

Since being notified by Mike Lowe that 'Five Star Admiral' is an impostor, and then having the TB "Superstition" bloom, I would have to say that they are one and the same - EXACTLY!

When I bought what I thought was "Five Star Admiral" 4 years ago, it was a bare-root rhizome, neatly trimmed with a wire tag right through the base of several leaves. It obviously came this way from the supplier (you know the one, "Sch..." or something like that) <VBG>, and came in a case with the picture of the real "Five Star Admiral" on it, sort of an open box style display. Because there is one picture per 50 (just guessing here) rhizome, and it has been 4 years since I saw it, I thought that's what I bought. Yeah, right.

It would be interesting to see what the other shoppers ended up with (hopefully they didn't have to wait so long for a bloom - 4 years is a long time).. Maybe it's "Edith Wolford"... (instead of my other "Ooops" as Mike calls it) since my EW isn't that one either. (possibly Lullaby of Spring??)

Does anyone actually have a picture or know of a site with a picture of "Five Star Admiral", out of curiosity?

P.S. It's not too late to join the: "Your Iris is Wrongly Named Again, Shauna" group, or the less popular - but just as important - "Shauna's Mis-named Iris Crisis Support" group. In fact, for the next 3 minutes, if you join the latter, you receive: one free mis-named iris of your choice - it won't be what you think it is, but it just might be an iris... well, maybe.

Five Star Admiral TB

This is the first time this beauty has bloomed for me since I planted it 4 years ago. It finally felt it was time to "show me the money"... he he he

Another Ooops!

Cheers,

Mike
