P1-9, also from Swingtown X Romantic Evening, was
just only partly open and not yet fully expanded when we got hit be high wind
and hail that just slaughtered the iris here. Folks south of us in upper
SC got it the day before, I hear. What a year!
But just for your enjoyment here are a couple
photos of this seedling, dubbed for garden use "Cranberry Copper." Showing
in neither the photo is the copper infusion in the base of the standards
and which spreads outward from hafts partway down the falls.
The first photo is from a digital camera, the
second scanned from a non-digital print shot two years ago of a fully
open and expanded bloom. In this the color is distorted. For
example, the beard is violet, not blue. The digital photo has the truer
color.
