The portable overcast isn't perfect but it is a major assistance. It is like some windshield shades in that it twists into a circle about 12" in diameter when not in use. In use it is about 3'.
This seems a reasonable solution to a nagging problem. For me the remaining failure of small digital cameras relative to 35mm cameras is the unavailability of lens filters. From whence did you obtain this accessory?
