       The change to Joseph's Coat Katkamier to be "PC" has nothing to do with its having a biblical name.  There was a wild Louisiana iris introduced with the same name some years back.  That can be confusing to hybridizers when they come across an iris' parentage with one of the parents being listed as Joseph's Coat.  It leads one to wonder which iris is that parent.  A recent problem occurred with aril hybrids.  There were 2 irises known as Bronze Beauty.  Barr had originally used the name for a TB in 1884, which appeared in the 1939 AIS Checklist.  So now we have a regelia hybrid that is now PC.....it is now called Bronze Beauty VanTubergen (VanTubergen in Holland being the originator of the regelia hybrid).  It just helps avoid confusion.
