I was at the show and saw Paul's seedling. That it was a
contender was immediately apparent. It's a delightful flower,
slender and graceful. -- Griff

news....Best seedling in Regional
I would like to share with the group that I had
some wonderful news this Mothers day. I received news on Sunday (Mothers
Day) that Ginny and Don Spoon, of Winterberry Gardens, took a stalk of
one of my seedlings to the regional meeting in Charlotte, NC.
They have been test growing several seedlings for me and this one in
particular was in bloom when they headed down to the regional...They entered
it for me (I was unable to attend) and it won best seedling....!!!
This is my first award for a seedling and I was a proud parent all day
long....Here is an image of the winning Iris....It is an IB (Chubby Cheeks x
Fancy Woman) and has a creamy white ground which in some
years, if it's really happy, it will have a deeper yellowish cast that is
really wonderful....It seems to me that the cooler the spring, the deeper the
yellow coloring, but that could just be a coincidence..... It is an IB.
I have always thought it was wonderful, but a big thank you to those of you
who voted my baby as the best seedling in show....
