This is Designer Gown, Ghio '84. Every year when this blooms, I am so
impressed with this edge. It looks like gold leaf. There are
thousands of
iris I've never seen, but, even so, I've never seen an edge like
this on
anything else.
Luckily, this year, Kent Rumbaugh stopped by, with his superior
expertise
and equipment, and got this shot.
Would love to see closeups of gilded edges on any other iris.
BTW - DG is a tough survivor. High branching but nice form and
substance. A child of Beverly Sills.
