Mine also just opened today, and is also new just last year.  My picture also shows a bud quite close to this open flower, hopefully just because it's in its first year.  It's about 18" tall.

I really like the flower on this iris! first year bloom, and it has quite a full stalk.

Should be a fantastic clump, though!

Yes, I've been trying to hybridize it . . . don't know yet if any pods set. Will know in a few days, though!
