Can't you knock on the door, offer to pay them with irises (or maybe
even just offer to pay them!), tell them what you are doing parked in
their driveway? One way to get to know your neighbors better ;-)

Rural life - somebody has been using bolt cutters to cut the lock off
our local cable provider's power pole, then throwing the switch to turn
it off.
