Re: REB: Renown X Wearing Rubies maiden

Mary Lou  --  It's interesting to see that you got that much of 'Wearing Rubies'' color in such a cross.  I wouldn't have thought of trying it.  What's your goal for it?  --  Griff

42 seeds from the 06 seed crop. 3 sprouted over the first
winter, none of which broke ground.  3 sprouted in fall, 07,
after spending over a year in the crisper.  All survived to
plant out 4/08.  This was just a swelling in the fan when
potted at end of Oct. Outside just for this photo, drooping
on third day open 2 feet from a floor heat vent.  Getting lots
of pollen from it.

I set 2 more pods of the same cross last spring and the second
sprout has broken ground.  Using Miracle Gro potting soil may be
the difference.

Speaking of redish things - Sutton's Lest We Forget bloomed
on primary and on 2 (honkin big!) increases this fall after
being received in July.  Darker and more ruffled than the
website photo.  Also, better branching and budcount than
anything I've had using Mulberry Echo pollen. Curious to see
if the branching is as good next year, and if it will rebloom here.

Mary Lou, near Indianapolis, Z5 - about 400 have broken ground
so far here.
