Re: Season Winners

Congratulations on your Silver Waltz award and the other winners, Colleen.  I see from the photos that part of the fun of your shows must be preparing the containers.  I love 'Vienna Waltz', but it doesn't like it here.  'Shadows of Night' is impressive, but I haven't tried it here.  --  Griff

Subject: [iris-photos] Season Winners

Hi

We're just coming to the end of our bloom season
So here's some votes from my garden, as awarded by me.

*Plant Of The Year* - Vienna Waltz - absolutely perfect in every way.
Growth, health, increase, branching, form and fertile too.

*Season Whopper-Stopper* - For huge plants, stems, bud count etc my
award goes to Revere. A stem of it took out the people's choice award at
our iris show.

*Surprise Of The Year* - Shiver Of Gold - The surprise was that my
floret it took out Grand Champion at the SA Iris Show. The surprising
part was that it opened beautifully and stayed that way all weekend. In
the garden it tends to open then flop right open. It has lovely wide
form and colour, but is so soft it's stds can't seem to stay upright in
wind or sun.
(My Silver Waltz also took out Champion TB.)

*Fertility Award* goes to Shadows Of Night - Every pod set on it, and
every time I used the pollen it seemed to take also. All I hope now is
that it gives nice seedlings.
