Oops, sorry, Central California Mountains. Highway 49 begins a few
miles from us (names after the 49'er - gold miners that is - in Oakhurst
California and travels northward all the way up past Sacramento northeast into
Nevada. That is considered the "gold" country because lots of it was found
in the late 1800s. I live in a town called Coarsegold - originally
"Coarse" Gold because that was what was found around here, coarse (not nuggets)
gold.
We are also 1/2 hour's drive from Yosemtie's gates - lovely back yard -
don't you think!
If it helps, 40 miles away from Fresno where the 2004 Convention was
held.
