Re: PHOTOS: Belvi Queen

I'm glad someone agrees with me about Destry Rides Again.  I have it because of the description, "copper rose".  I guess that sounds better than muddy brown.  However if it reblooms, I'll forgive it.  Almost any iris looks good blooming in December or January.
Belvi Queen's picture reminds me of Rainbow Hues, too many colors on one flower, and the hot sun fades them.  However appreciation for Rainbow Hues has grown on me, and it's one of my husband's favorites.

Just as with beauty, ugly is in the eye of the beholder. I agree with your wife. Mike Sutton and I agree DESTRY RIDES AGAIN is ugly. Even the hybridizer and his wife thought it was ugly. It had gone to a commercial garden with other rebloomer seedlings for evalution and possible introduction. Why that one was chosen for introduction will probably never be known.

There are 12 buds on the stalk. Unfortunately it is the one iris my wife says is ugly. I say "THERE ARE NO UGLY IRIS".
