Donald,
I suppose most of it will wash off, what doesn't will probably be left
there. Maybe having the sand on top of them will cause them to bloom a
little later, thus avoiding any possible late freezes. Sounds like a
plan to me.
Who knows what will happen with me, these exotic irises and this climate
I live in.
