I now live in Crandon, Wisconsin, which is 110 miles northwest of Green Bay.  The Northwoods provides fair-to-middlin' circumstances for irises..I am surprised at how many do well.

Tis true, this true. Irises are an amazing plant! From the rainy northwest, through the high desert country of Oregon's altitude, down to the parched Arizona, cross to Texas, back up thru Missouri, on to Crandon, Wisconsin, up into Canada, all the way over to quirky Vermont, steppin' off into Massachcan'tspell, on down thru them Carolina's, into Kentucky, plumb all the way here to God's country, they grow!

Smiles from the awed,
Bill Burleson
