Dennis, the *Flora of West Virginia,* Second Ed.
dates from about 1978, at least so indicated by its LC catalog number
78-1146. The authors are P. D. Strausbaugh and Earl L. Core, and the work
was published (at least at that time) by Seneca Books, Inc, Grantsville, West
Virginia.
The ecological array of West Virginia will not be
quite the same as Ohio but should have at least some similarity, despite the
long separation of the two areas by the rather wide Ohio River, a definitive
ecological boundary. The topography and probably the geology of WV
and OH are also substantially different, again adding to the contrast. I
don't know if the mentioned *Flora* would be of use. I would be happy to
loan you my copy if you cannot find something more relevant. There may be
a regional flora including Pennsylvania, Ohio and adjacent areas rather
than a work specific to Ohio itself.
I suggest this as most of the southern Appalachin
areas are grouped together into one compendium, the title of which I have
forgotten. I had intended to acquire it at one time, but other matters
intruded.
I do have also *A Manual of the Higher Plants
of Oregon,* Morton E. Peck, and *Flora of Idaho,* Ray J. Davis, PhD, the latter
with a 1952 copyright, reflecting my migrations over time and range of
interests, but these would relate more to the NM and Colorado flora familiar to
Dave Ferguson much more closely than yours. The WV text may or may not be
relevant.
