RE: Gynandriris sisyrinchium

Dear Ken,

Moraea (= Gynandriris) sisyrinchium grows here in the south of Italy on sandy soil near the sea or in dry and poor soils.
It shows his pretty flowers only in the afternoon (3 to 6 p.m.) but each spike produces up to 20 flowers and flowering time is long a month or so.

I grow a big form bought from Law De Jager which doesn't show the beautiful colors in the falls and the yellow throat I seen in wild plants.
This form is better only for size, but not for colors, which are better in the wild plants.

If I'll find it I'll post some pictures from the wild.

Subject: [iris-species] Gynandriris sisyrinchium

Last fall I bought Gynandriris sisyrinchium. This spring I've see two buds and two spent flowers. Does anyone know how long the flowers are open and what time of day they bloom?
