"finely ground pepper" is a good description for what I saw.  It's basically in scattered clusters over the entire length of the leaf, front and back.  I couldn't see any apparent damage to the plants, and they've been blooming for many weeks now.  But I still don't like the look of these things... they have to be eating something!

I didn't have time to take pics this morning... I'll try this evening.
