Mark, As for Iris tectorum - I don't know the answer to the ones I planted in Lancaster, NH. I lost the two I planted here in Berlin. They bloomed for two years and then nothing. Very discouraging. We hope to move out of these mountains next year.
El and I probably would have different garden-worthy irises - my soil medium is very acid like most of the east with abundant rainfall which is great for Japanese and Siberian irises and some species. El and I probably share the same short growing season because of our long and bitter winters with northern New Hampshire having snow cover six months of the year. Don't know if El has a consistent snow cover.
I am going to try growing more iris in pots.

>Hey Mark.......have missed you! Years ago when you lived in Kentucky, you sent me irids and they are still growing at my old property!
Ellen,
Is that Iris tectorum I sent back then still growing? Are you still in Berlin, NH?
