Re: Germinating Iris Seeds in Paper Towel

I germinate them in small plastic ziplock bags with a couple of
tablespoons of Sunshine Mix. If they happen to germinate while I am
travelling, they have a bit of nutrition till I get back.

I find that iris seeds often take a long time to germinate. I sowed
ten seeds of Iris laevigata x ensata tetra o.p. from SIGNA, in April
2010. Seven of the seeds must have been infertile, as only three
remain. One has just germinated.

I have eight more lots of SIGNA seed sown at the same time that have
not germinated yet.

They aren't all slow, though. Two lots of setosa and one of
unguiculares have already germinated from this year's exchange.
