FW: Louisiana iris double bloom [3 Attachments]

Back in 1999 I pollinated a Louisiana Iris ‘Clara Goula’ in my garden with pollen from a very nice blue I. giganticaerulea that I had collected from Louisiana. I am presently considering registering one of the resulting offspring’s (my record designation LI-SX-2-99a) which performs very well in my garden and in my opinion produces very attractive blooms.  A few days ago, when I went into my garden, I was shocked, as this iris presented me a double bloom with 11 floral segments (almost all of which appear to be falls) and nine styles.  See attached photos.  My first though was that it was due to a gen! etic mutation of some sort; but on more careful examination of the bloom it became apparent to my disappointment that it probably was due to a development abnormality.  As can be seen in the third photos, there are two ovaries fused together, so in reality it is literally a double bloom.
