That is in fact the range of brevicaulis, taken from BONAP. They don't break down Canadian distribution lower than province, but brevicaulis occurs on Pelee Island and Point Pelee in Lake Erie. The dark green merely indicates presence in a state or province; light green indicates the finer-level distribution.

any sense. Lower part would possible cover brevicalis, buy Canadian
part makes no sense. There is no iris with that distribution.

It's being sold as Iris brevicaulis, but I wonder if it's I.
missouriensis or I. virginica or something else? It's surely not I.
