RE: RBG mislabelled species Iris


 

To me, it looks rather similar to a few of the east European species, except most of those are not generally of this color (from what little I know of them anyway).  However, based on the name attached, and extrapolating to assume that this may be from the Iberian Peninsula (???).  Could it perhaps be a hybrid bettween I. subbiflora and I. pallida?
 
By the way - as others are probably thinking.  I would love to try growing it here in NM.

Hi all,

I received this inquiry from a member. The iris was purchased from the Royal Bot. Garden, Ontario. Anybody hazard to guess??

This lovely Iris from the RBG was labelled I. Subbiflora which I don't think it is.
It measures 20" tall but was grown in a pot for the last year.
It's scented with a lovely scent.
