Re: Vic -- Iris tridentata

I'm also growing the clone of Iris tridentata that Joe Pie
Weed is distributing. I grow it in undrained oak barrels
that are wet in the winter and damp in the summer.
I use a mix of sand, potting soil, compost, and, acid
soil conditioner. Mine have been producing a few blooms
every year. I live in zone 9 (Northern California, 30 miles
from the coast) so my winters are mild. I wonder if the
barrels might get too chilled in climates with cold winters.

I have more than a dozen I. tridentata seedlings from
Vic's seed contributions to SIGNA last year. I need
another barrel... I'm looking forward to them blooming!
