Re: Iris mandchurica

Hi all,

I've received a nice little clump of Iris mandchurica and I'm now looking for as much info as I can get.

I know it is a woodland plant from Ussuri region of USSR, Manchurica and Korea. I've checked and these areas appear to have summer heat and monsoons with cold dry winters. The soil may be loess. I know it is a Psammiris. I've planted it in a clay pot with a mixture of peat, pumice and sand below and a layer of shale above. I know those areas get up to 40" of rain so I've watered it good.

With all that said has anyone had any sucess or failures with this plant or any info I should know? Help.

Cindy
