Chuck, the 'd' seedling does have an interesting play of colour. Could carry some fun genetics. All the aphylla seedlings I've seen tend to be violet to purple. The splashing effect is new to me. Maybe I just don't get around enough! -- Jamie V. ____________ irischapman@ Here are two more seedlings. I had about 40 seedlings bloom. Only one or two that were pale blue. About 1/4 had yellow colour. A number of dark purple, very typical aphylla colour, and a number with splotches. Some with incrediably poor twisted form. "d" was the best of the bunch for shape and my favorite. A freaky colour from an aphylla. I havn't checked if they show aphylla winter die back. "d" had aphylla branching and offers a lot of potential for passing on aphylla genetics without problem of Ae producing dark purple. These were open pollinated seeds. What I did was mix all seeds together , stirred them up , and then planted them . I suspect that they are basically selfed seeds. Almost all show aphylla branching, and they wer crowded so may not have reached full potential Chuck Chapman |
