cup of tea to germinate iris seeds

There is an interesting discussion going on now on the Scottish Rock Garden Club Forum.

New Zealand is going to have an iris convention. It is difficult for them to import plants, but they can import iris seeds. The American Iris Society has sent them a lot of seeds of new hybrids, and the New Zealanders want to get them growing quickly.

Someone has reported a method of soaking seeds in tea which helps quick germination.

I am going to try this method myself, as I find iris seeds take a very long time to germinate (except for PCIs). I drink lots of tea, so the iris seeds can share each pot with me.
