Bulbous Irises should be in the ground. It may be too late. Are you saying you are storing bulbs or seed. If seed they can still be planted. If bulbs they should not be out of the ground for more than six monthes. Most all bulbous Iris are hardy at least to zone 6 and most to zone 3. If they are not in the ground early in winter they often will not form adequate roots for their spring growth. Dutch Irises are sometimes sold in spring and they have been specially stored. They may not die but spring planting of bulbous Iris is usually pretty hard on the bulb if not terminal.
