Re: Seed Viability

Title: Meddelelse
Hello Lars,
Thanks for the confirmation of this question.  I mean it does make sense. I just wondered about the seeds that had not fallen to the ground and were still in the pod while those that had fallen would be seem to be more protected by snow or leaves.
I am still curious about the seedling of Jim Mac's from your seed.  Is the seedling really a hybrid of a Martagon(spotted rose) and amabile luteum?? Just seeing the flower one might think so, but?
JIm in Saskatoon where today it was plus 7C which is too bad really because we will lose our snow cover again.  Oh well, I'm sure there is more where it came from.

Hi Jim.
No it would not harm the seed. Many iris seed need frost (some more than 1 frost period) before germinating. I am often storing seed in the freezer!

Hello,
Can anyone tell me if leaving seed which I am sure was mature in the pods out until after frost would affect the viability of the seed. I can't see how it would, but...
