seed exchange thoughts

Hi folks,
I got my list just before Christmas & mailed my order just before leaving
for the traditional 11 hour drive to visit relatives. In spite of the
problems with new regulations governing importing seed, I thought it was
one of the better recent lists. I usually get almost all my first
choices--maybe that's a sign that I need to branch out a little
more. Actually I am ordering more bearded species than I used to. I also
like to check out the list later in the year; usually Rodney sends out an
email reminder that leftovers are available. It's very tempting to order
something you overlooked, or get more of something you were especially hot
for. I give away extra and unused seed packets at NARGS meetings and local
iris society meetings (to people not too familiar with species.)
I'm sure you all read that this is the last year Marty and Jan will be
doing the seed exchange. SIGNA really needs someone to take over. If you
live in an area where you could get a group of iris lovers together to do
the exchange, we'd love to hear from you. This could be your chance to
implement some new ideas, like perhaps distributing the list electronically.
Ken
