Re: more NOIDs - Iris delavayi

I very much agree with Yuri. Iris sanguinea is often misidentified because one of its key traits is the purple bracts that give it its name. Unfortunately the purple is not there in many clones if not most in some regions so it contunually gets keyed to something else. I always find it dificult to identify plants by just one picture and often hesitate to give a strong opinion when it is based on just that. But sanguinea was what I thought of first when viewing this photo. Also there is always variation within a species and I see nothing here that would lead me to think it has to be a hybrid.

The flower's shape fully fits Iris sanguinea, the only sign it is a garden hybrid with Iris sibirica is its papery bracts that usually should be herbaceous in Iris sanguinea.
Unlike Jim Waddick I see no sign of Iris delavayi, compare with this photo http://www.plantarium.ru/page/image/id/40477.html

As long as the thread is on mystery plants, here's SIGNA 05J033
blooming for me last year. I'm certain it's not what it was identified
as for the seed exchange, but wanted to get the group's unbiased
opinion (so no peeking at what it's supposed to be first). It's fairly
tall, maybe a meter or so, flowering mid-June. So, what is it? Or at
least, what series?
