Hi Jacky and All, Thank heavens for Google maps! You can quickly check what region someone grows certain plants! On the map, by latitude you are just a little more south and your climate must be ideal for growing most plants originating in a temperate climate. In easter Switzerland is an area where the native Iris sibirica can still be found. I did start with seeds from that region. we live in the western part ( 30 min. drive from the end of Lac Léman) where none are found in the wild. The 30 min. drive is up to 1300 m altitude and a different climate (sigh!) I should not complain, because I. sibirica and many perennials grow well. Because the cool summers and short season, many flowers stay in bloom longer but my daylilies do struggle with the lack of heat. To give you an idea what Iris will grow for me, you find the links to Iris sibirica and the species page below. Unfortunately the site has been under construction for ever, just don't have time. Also some of my favorite beauties have given up the ghost in the meantime. Most of my species Iris originated fro SIGNA seeds, but I do like to play with pollen and find it fascinating to create spec-x. Iris Water loving Iris do best here, however, if they received better care, PCN Iris could do much better. best wishes for a MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
