Dear SIGNA members,
We, the Seed Exchange co-chairs have finished the 2011 seed list and
have sent it for printing, distribution and posting to the web. We
hope this will be public shortly before the year end.
Although the number of seed donations is down this year from last,
the number of donors is up and there are a few quite interesting items
on the list:
We list almost all the species of crested iris.
There are also some extremely interesting water iris selection from
the Russian originating I. ensata selections by some of the top
hybridizers to a large range of I. versicolor selections. Perhaps the
most intriguing items on the list are the range of wide cross hybrids
involving Iris versicolor, ensata, pseudacorus, laevigata, virginica
and setosa in many combinations. Many thanks to Tony Huber of Quebec,
Canada for most of these hybrids.
And we have a terrific selection of other Irid species including a
few new to the list.
Seeds listed as AB (Abundant) or AV (Average) indicate enough to fill
all or most orders. Seeds marked VF (Very Few) or just FW (Few) will
surely sell out and are in short supply.
Please pass this news of coming attractions around to other SIGNA
members or potential members.
Best wishes. Jim Waddick and Jim Murrain
