I. foetidissima is actually one of the species I've had pulled out of the ground when freshly planted, with tooth marks in the tops of the leaves. For the moment deer seem to leave the majority of my established irises alone, or merely nip the ends of the leaves off without much damage. Junos are a frequent target just as they emerge in spring.
