Re: FW: Vic -- Iris Insect Pests

I've occasionally seen random caterpillars chomping on iris leaves.  It's usually on water loving irises, like Iris versicolor.  But the damage is always so minor that I've never been concerned.  This summer I actually studied up on the caterpillar I found and it was some kind of tussock moth caterpillar.  They were kind of all over the garden though, especially on my native woodland wildflowers.

The photos of your caterpillar don't look familiar at all.  I'll have to pay a little closer attention next year.
