I am interested in the species cross - sibtosas. I'm looking for
sources and I would also like to generate some sibtosa seedlings. So
was wondering how easily the 28 chromosome Siberians cross with Iris
setosa. The few sibtosas I've read about are from siberian seed
parent and setosa pollen. How numerous and well-formed are the seeds
from this cross? Also, does the cross work in reverse?
I've come across these in my reading:
PAUSBACK SIBTOSA (Tamberg 1993) Diploid Sterile
ROYAL DOLLY (Reid 1995) Diploid Sibtosa. POLLY DODGE x I. setosa Alba.
BUTTERFLY FOUNTAIN (Tamberg 2000)Diploid sterile. SNOW PRINCE x white
setosa. First white sibtosa.
NORTHERN PINK(Tamberg 1995) Tetra-Sibtosa. Fertile amphidiploid from
cross of two converted diploid sibtosas.
SIBTOSA QUEEN (Tamberg 2001)....this is a 3/4-1/4-Sibtosa-hybrid.
THREE QUARTERS (Tamberg 1993)....this is a 3/4-1/4-Sibtosa-hybrid.
SIBTOSA DUCHESS (Tamberg/Schafer-Sacks '02) ??diploid??
SIBTOSA PRINCESS (Tomas Tamberg) ??diploid??
Any comments on how sibtosas compare to the two parental types would
be interesting. But most of all, I'd like to find a source (in the
USA or Canada) for 'BUTTERFLY FOUNTAIN' and 'NORTHERN PINK'.
Thanks in advance for any information, Tom
