Will,
I'll report on it whether or not it's successful.
Sometimes showing the negative is nearly as useful!

seed germination
Jim,
If it shows positive results with the GA3 a short
article would be nice so people can give it a try with some hope.

for seed germination
I've got about 350 seeds from i. virginica 'Orchid Pink',
(via bees) on which I was going to try an experiment. My experience
with virginica is that most come up the second year. Thought I'd split
the lot up this way:
50 seeds normal (outdoors in a pot, let nature
do it) 50 seeds normal as above, but treated with GA-3 50 seeds
soaked, chilled (8 weeks in fridge, ~35F) , and put out as above 50 seeds
soaked, GA-3'd, chilled as above, and put out as above 50 seeds soaked,
chilled, and kept in the house (~70F) 50 seeds soaked, GA-3'd, chilled,
and kept in the house (~70F)
There are a large number of possibly
permutations, but this seems a reasonable start. Open to any suggestions
as to changing the plan! But quick, want to do this next
week....

Nothing germinating. I am tempted to place the i. missouriensis > in a
