Re: Spec-X?

<<you have a strong tendency to simply take jabs at those that don't fill your definition of a 'good' irisarian.  Wake up!  The world is moving very quickly and the idea that one should research every little item themselves and pay for it along the way is not only long antiquated, but simply an inefficient method.  It is exactly this ivory tower mentality that drives many people away from forums, as well as their associated societies.  I really do not wish to be a member of such a group.>>

I have not taken a jab at anyone, and I don't have any definition of a "good irisarian," indeed, I think that notion is hilarious.

What concerns me here is the combination of consistently rude tone from some parties with demands for information delivered from an antagonistic posture which is not grounded in sound information. I am, of course, speaking in generalities. You are, of course, correct, that Mr. Pries is the soul of graciousness and patience. I on the other hand, would prefer people do their homework before finding fault with everything, including organizations of which they are not members, and I have dared to say so.

But no one here has stopped you from speaking your mind on any subject or offering your opinion and I am sure we would all be interested in hearing your ideas about how things--what?--should change, especially if they address the pesky practicalities which so often deflate our own dreams. I really have no idea what you know about irises. I have no notion of who you are other than you said you were more interested in daylilies. But I must tell you I'm not intersted in getting into some bicker just because there are some folks in the world who like to stir the compost. Again, I am speaking in generalities, you understand.

You could not be more wrong about me, however; as I am as independent as they come, a known radical and freethinker, and one who considers herself a rank beginner in irises. I warn you, you won't get very far trying to make me the postergirl for the old order.

You, however, if I may respond personally to your personal comments to me, seem to have a good many idee fixes, and a pressing need to identify windmills against which to tilt. Tilt, on, sir, and strength to your sword arm, but please be so kind as to leave me out of it.

Happy new year to you.
