Marsha, I garden in SE Tennessee and have found that most of the species I've tried have done really well given enough moisture. Siberians, pretty much all of the Laevigate series species: Japanese, laevigatas, pseudacorus, versicolors, virginicas, and the various inter-species crosses. I have been most impressed with the Louisianas. They have done remarkably well despite a lot of neglect. My biggest problem is keeping the voles at bay in overgrown beds that I only get to work a handful of times a year.
