RE: Lapeirousia oregana

Morning Jim and all.

I was only testing the Anomatheca seeds for viability, so I soaked them in a cup of water, alongside the iris seeds I was also soaking.  The Anomatheca seeds sprouted in about a week, but I left them for another week.  By then, each had a little sprout, so I potted the dozen or so in a 4" pot.  Now, a few days later, the most of the sprouts have poked through the soil.  It was good practice for planting my future iris seedlings that are in buritto's in my plant fridge.

I tried seed from last years SIGNA list, but didn't get any germination.  Are there any secrets involved!  How cold can this species get?

It's from the winter rainfall area of SA and probably can't take any frost. I was lucky and was given a couple small corms so have not tried it from seed yet. There have been so many flowers it may be a good house plant in cold areas. At least it does not take up much room. This is the first year for me to grow any Lapeirousia. Needs an easy 'common' name.
