I have found that the outer tepals of D. iridoides are clear while those of D. grandiflora have black markings on the claw.  In California, almost all of the white Dietes are D. grandiflora, although they are sold under a variety of names such as D. iridoides (which they are not) or D. vegata (which is not an accepted name).

been open.
